2009 Statistics
Posted January 5th, 2010 in Miscellaneous Postings
This post is one of a few looking at how my 2009 went and to set some aims for 2010. This post looks at some statistics for 2009.
Graph
The graph below is from Google Analytics covering Januery 1st 2009 to December 31st 2009. The blue line and numbers at the left are visitor numbers, and the orange line and numbers at the right are pageviews. Each point on the graph represents a month.

As you can see there was fairly steady growth throughout the year with a slight drop in August and then flattening out a little at the end of the year due to the holiday season.
Statistics
According to Google Analytics this blog served 1,948,787 pageviews to 1,583,361 visitors over the course of the year. On a month by month breakdown this looks like so:
| Month | Visitors | Pageviews |
|---|---|---|
| January | 63,176 | 75,372 |
| February | 74,367 | 90,009 |
| March | 88,737 | 108,747 |
| April | 94,083 | 114,969 |
| May | 114,250 | 141,812 |
| June | 129,030 | 158,389 |
| July | 150,044 | 183,167 |
| August | 145,733 | 179,639 |
| September | 159,128 | 197,627 |
| October | 185,530 | 229,555 |
| November | 189,897 | 234,301 |
| December | 189,386 | 235,197 |
Over the course of the year the amount of traffic this to blog tripled. This was somewhat short of my unrealistic tenfold increase I had been aiming for but I came to realise fairly early in the year that I was never going to increase traffic by that much. There was a reason I had been wanting to get traffic to that level but more about that tomorrow.
