Aims for 2009
Posted January 5th, 2009 in Miscellaneous Postings (Updated January 6th, 2010)
So on Saturday I said I'd done the last of summaries and overviews and it would be back to regular blogging, but I forgot to set aside a post for my aims for 2009 for this blog, so here they are. There will be a regular LAMP post tomorrow.
My aim for this blog this year is to re-focus it on PHP, MySQL, Javascript, HTML and CSS. In the past it's been a bit of a free for all with a large number of topics covered (as shown in my 2008 Summary of Posts). By focussing it more on a core of LAMP based web programming I hope to gain a bigger readership.
My aims for 2009 are:
- Post one new article per day directly related to PHP, MySQL, Javascript, HTML or CSS
- These will usually comprise of the following, although some flexibility is allowed:
- 2 x PHP posts per week
- 2 x MySQL posts per week
- 2 x Javascript/jQuery posts per week
- 1 x HTML/CSS post per week
- Other topics are considered off topic and can be posted, but must be posted in addition to the above schedule e.g. a problem solving Linux post will be the second post for the day.
Supplementary aims for this blog:
- Grow the RSS subscriber base tenfold to 1000 (it's currently about 100)
- Increase the monthly pageviews tenfold to 600k (it's currently just under 60k)
I will also change the blog post time to 7am NZ time, which is 10am Pacific Time and 1pm Eastern Time. This new posting schedule starts today, and the above posting aims start from tomorrow.
Follow up post
This post was followed up on January 6th 2010 to look back at the year and see if my aims were met.
