Te Arai Olive Estate Website

Te Arai Olive Estate is a premium olive oil producer in Mangawhai, on the east coast of Northland, New Zealand. They produce olives and olive oil; Motutira is their premium extra virgin olive oil and can be ordered online using their online ordering page.
Website Design

The website design was created by Iley Hewlet of I-Design using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop on an Apple Mac. Photoshop documents were supplied to me from which I created a site template. The site uses CSS positioning for layout, although there are also tables used on the ordering page to easily create the order form. It was tested in a wide variety of browsers and platforms including: Internet Explorer 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 on Windows; Opera 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 on Windows; Internet Explorer 5.2 on Mac OS9 and OSX; Mozilla based browsers on Windows, Linux and Mac OSX; Konqueror 3.2 on Linux.
Online Ordering
Te Arai Olive Oil Online Ordering
The screenshot above shows the online ordering page where customers can place an order for olives and olive oil. The first page in the order process allows the customer to select quantities of each item. Clicking a calculate order button submits the form and shows the order totals, including any discounts (where appropriate) and freight. The customer from this page can enter their order details.
This order form is very simple and simply sends a formatted email through to Te Arai Olive Estate; they can then contact the customer for payment details once the order is received.
Website Administration
A very simple online administration interface was created so the Te Arai Olive Estate website administrator can log in and add, edit and delete products from the order page. Screenshots for the product list and edit pages are shown below.

The pages were created using a database table editing class I created for my own purposes; the admin pages themselves simply instantiate a class, set some properties and then call a method to display the appropriate information.
Technology Used
The site was developed using PHP and MySQL, and is hosted on a Linux server at Web Drive. The pages include top and bottom files to make it easy for future administration; navigational elements only have to be changed in one file and are reflected throughout the site once changed. The order form and administration areas are the only parts of the site that use the database.
I used the Zend Studio on Linux, and Macromedia Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop on Windows when developing the site.
The screenshots on this page were taken with Konqueror 3.2.2 on KDE 3.2.2 with the Plastik theme on SuSE Linux Professional 9.0. They were captured using the Gimp 1.2.
