GoDaddy SSL renewal credit bought - now what?
Posted August 1st, 2011 in Miscellaneous Postings
After buying a renewal credit for a GoDaddy SSL certificate it's not all obvious what you need to do next to actually request and download the certicate. The last time I had to do this was a couple of months ago and when I went to renew some certs today I couldn't remember how to do it. Now I've figured it out again I've documented it here for anyone else needing help.
Buy the renewal credit first
You need to buy the renewal credit first; this post assumes you have already done this.
Certificate shows "Renewal Pending"
After buying the renewal credit and looking at the GoDaddy website to see a list of your secure certificates, clicking the certificate in question will show "Renewal Pending" as shown in the first screenshot below. Note there are no clues about what you need to do to actually renew it.

To initiate the renewal process, click the "Manage Certificate" link next to the certificate's name.
SSL Certificate Services
After clicking the "Manage Certificate" link you end up in the Secure Certificate Services screen, which again offers no clue about what to do next. You'll just see a list of your current certificates with no obvious way to get the renewed certificate.
This is shown in the second screenshot below. Note that the filters on the left side do not show anything under pending requests, denied requests or credits.

At the top of the list of certificates is a link labelled "click here to update your list". Click it!
Now finally you'll see the "credits" under the filters will have a number other than zero showing you that you have credits. Click it and you'll see the certificates you have credits for as shown in the final screenshot below.

To request the certificate click the "Request Certificate" link next to it. Now if only you didn't have to click that "click here" link and it update automatically it would be so much more obvious...
