Google Chrome StatsGoogle Chrome Stats

Now that Google Chrome has been out for over a week, and Ars Technica reported their own Google Chrome stats, I thought I'd take a quick look at Google Chrome penetration across various websites I manage.

I use Google Analytics across the sites I measured and each gets around 1000 daily visitors. I set the date range from September 3rd to September 9th to get a full week's data.

They break down like so:

Blogs / technical oriented websites:

Website 1: 3.45% - this website, international audience
Website 2: 2.87% - international audience

E-commerce websites, not technically oriented:

Website 3: 0.29% - primarily NZ based traffic
Website 4: 0.17% - primarily Australian based traffic
Website 5: 0.74% - primarily NZ based traffic
Website 6: 0.53% - primarily NZ based traffic
Website 7: 0.62% - primarily US based traffic

Conclusion

I'm not at all surprised to see around 3% usage on the technical blog sites, and that Ars Technica has reported 7%. Technical types are more likely to try new things out. I am surprised to see up to 0.74% on the ecommerce sites. Although I haven't specified which websites they are, their target market is quite niche for websites 3, 4 and 7 and across the board for the others.

What will be interesting is to review this again in a month or two and see if people have continued to use this new web browser.
