Google Chrome Stats - follow up
Posted October 8th, 2008 in Applications
Google's Chrome browser has been out for over a month now and I thought it would be useful to have a look at stats across some of the sites I manage to see if people are still using it. Almost a month ago I looked at Google Chrome stats after the first week and will use those as a comparison now.
I use Google Analytics across the sites I measured and each gets around 1000 daily visitors. The original date range used was September 3rd to September 9th (a full week's data) and the second range used now is September 29th to October 5th, again a full week's data.
Blogs / technical oriented websites:
Website 1: Then: 3.45% Now: 3.35% - this website, international audience
Website 2: Then: 2.87% Now: 2.80% - international audience
E-commerce websites, not technically oriented:
Website 3: Then: 0.29% Now: 0.35% - primarily NZ based traffic
Website 4: Then: 0.17% Now: 0.22% - primarily Australian based traffic
Website 5: Then: 0.74% Now: 1.23% - primarily NZ based traffic
Website 6: Then: 0.53% Now: 0.97% - primarily NZ based traffic
Website 7: Then: 0.62% Now: 0.81% - primarily US based traffic
Conclusion
I'm a little surprised. I had assumed the percentage of visitors using Chrome would have dropped across all sites, especially after PC World's negative article about Chrome from yesterday. Instead the technically oriented websites have dropped slightly and the non-tech ones have all increased.
It will certainly pay to monitor this again in another month and see what happens. I should also do a comparison across those sites with the other browsers and see which have been affected by Chrome.
