How to unlock a domain name at GoDaddy
Posted December 14th, 2008 in Miscellaneous Postings
Domain names are usually locked at your registrar to prevent unauthorized activity happening to them, including moving to another registrar. If you do want to move the domain to another registrar you must first unlock the domain and this post looks at how to unlock a domain with GoDaddy.
After you have logged into your account at GoDaddy, mouse over the domains button and select the My Domains option. This opens up the domain manager.
Tick the checkbox next to the domain names that you want to set locking for and then click the "Locking" button at the top of the domain list. This is shown in the screenshot below highlighted with a red box.
This then shows the following dialog box. Tick the box to lock domains or untick the box to unlock domains and then click the "OK" button.

This then locks or unlocks the domains and displays the following confirmation.

A follow up email is sent to you to confirm this has been done. This also acts as a warning in case you were not expecting this to have happened.
I register all my .com domain names and secure certificates at GoDaddy and have been doing so since 2003 because they are really good value. Go to www.GoDaddy.com to register yours today.
