Posted February 2nd, 2009 in Monthly Roundup
My monthly stats round up posts a summary of the most read posts over the previous month, numbers of visitors to the blog and any changes I have made over the month that may have affected visitor numbers etc. This is the monthly stats roundup for January 2009.
From 2009 my Monthly Roundup is split over two days with a list of all posts for the previous month on the first day of each month and the stats on the second day of the month.
Please note: there will be a PHP post later on today. This is a supplementary post for today.

Visitor numbers
I get the visitor numbers from Google Analytics and saw a huge increase of 21% in visitor numbers and 25% in pageviews between December and January. The following table shows visitor numbers and pageviews for each month from October 2008 to January 2009.
| Month | Visitors | Pageviews |
| October 2008 | 47,099 | 54,632 |
| November 2008 | 50,566 | 58,986 |
| December 2008 | 50,602 | 60,026 |
| January 2009 | 61,168 | 75,243 |
RSS Subscribers
I use Feedburner/Google to serve my RSS feed and give an indication of visitor numbers. I curently have around 115 RSS subscribers, 20 more than in the last three to four months.
Changes made this month
I changed the way I write posts starting January 4th, with a scheduled system of PHP, MySQL, Javascript/jQuery and HTML/CSS each week instead of the somewhat random assortment of posts that were happening previously over a much wider range of topics, along with weekly and monthly filler posts in the form of weekly and monthly roundups.
I now post a new "on-topic" post each day (on-topic being PHP, MySQL, Javascript/jQuery and HTML/CSS) with the occasional "off-topic" post being site notices, monthly roundups and other stuff such as dealing with particular app issues, Linux issues, Windows issues etc.
I've also removed the Weekly Roundups, replacing them with a new system of monthly roundups where I cover all the posts from the previous month on the first day of the month, and the statistical information for the previous month on the second day of the month (i.e. this post).
Things to do
The ability for people to comment. Been meaning to do this one for a while now...
