Remove region protection from Philips HTS3105 DVD Player

I have a Philips HTS3105 DivX Ultra DVD home theatre system and when trying to diagnose another problem came across how to remove the region protection, meaning you can play DVDs from any region instead of just for the one its encoded for.

Today I happened to buy a Region 1 DVD so was finally able to test out whether the region protection had actually been removed. The DVD player originally would only play Region 4 DVDs. I put the new DVD in and it worked.

The steps to remove DVD region protection from a Philips HTS 3105 are:

1. Open the disc tray
2. Press 99990 on the remote
3. Region 0 will appear on the left of the screen
4. Switch the DVD player off and back on

The DVD player will now play DVDs for all regions.
