Running Calendar Past, Present and Future
Posted June 29th, 2012 in Case Studies
I posted up "Running Calendar Past, Present and Future" on my New Zealand Running Calendar website which looks at the design evolution of that particular website.
Article summary
I set up the New Zealand Running Calendar website in response to the not very good other running website in NZ but it look me a few years before I actually got the site going online. Initially I wanted to make it look like a calendar but it became quickly apparant that it wouldn't work very well from a usability perspective.
The article shows a couple of early mockups in Photoshop using the calendar idea, and then the evolution of the design over time in screenshots of the site as a listing rather than a calendar.
There have been 3 major layout changes which have mostly also been documented on this blog but the new post on the running website documents it all in one place.
As well as the 3 major changes, there was also a change to the popup box from Facebox to Colorbox and there have been dozens of other tweaks and changes.
