Link to a specific tweet on Twitter
Posted June 4th, 2011 in Applications
OK, so you probably all know how to do this anyway, but I needed to link to a specific tweet yesterday and it wasn't immediately obvious to me how to get the link when I used the Twitter web interace. On the other hand, using the official Twitter client for Mac this morning it was a no-brainer.
Linking to a specific tweet from the Twitter website
Find the tweet you want to link to and then click the time ago it was posted in grey underneath the tweet. That will take to you a page with the just the tweet and you can use the the URL from your browser's address bar to copy the permalink (or just right-click and copy the URL).
The time ago is shown in the red box in the screenshot below:

Easy when you know how, but not immediately obvious.
Linking to a specific tweet using the official Twitter client (on a Mac)
I assume the Twitter client on Windows is the same as on a Mac so I would think it's the same. The screenshot below is from the Mac client. Simply right-click the tweet you want to get the permalink for and click the "View on Twitter" option. Or use Cmd+T (I would guess Cntrl+T on Windows).

Easy.
