Website changes September 11th 2008

I made a couple of changes to this website yesterday so thought I would share them here and also so I have a record of changes made over time.

First of all, I added "By Email" as a subscription option to the top right navigation under the RSS Feed option. This takes the visitor through to the Feedburner subscribe by email form and they will then receive my posts by email.

And secondly, I changed the subscription information at the end of each post to include direct links to some of the more popular online RSS feed readers and the standard link to the Feedburner page which has more options. Preivously all I had was the first set of text shown in the screenshot below.

Then after the subscribe to RSS Feed section I've added the option to sign up by email with the form asking for the email address. Again this is handled by Feedburner. And then finally at the bottom I've added the bookmark/share widget from Add This which has links through to a whole bunch of social bookmarking websites when you mouseover it.

I'll see if this affects my subscription rates at all. I do also need to continue writing useful content (there's probably been a bit too much non Linux/Apache/PHP/MySQL/Javascript stuff recently) and ideally return to two posts a day like I was doing last week. However I'm away this weekend and for three days next week so I've dropped it back to one post a day so I can ensure I can write enough content ahead of time and they continue to auto post while I'm away.
